INDIGO - one of the long-term projects of VPV - focuses not only in intercultural exchange but also skills training to help young people to get closer to culture diversity and social issues.
• During more than 2 years of operation ( Nov, 2007 - Jan, 2010), INDIGO has attracted more than 4000 students from different schools, universities across Hanoi as well as nearly 400 international friends.
• INDIGO holds workshop every 2 weeks with the average duration of 2 hours per workshop. The topics are various and diversified, from big matters like “climate change”, “gender equality”, “globalization” to specific ones like “Leadership”, “Cheap Travel”, “American Country Music”, “Conflict management” and “Work and travel USA”. All the topics are analyzed, discussed and evaluated under the viewpoints of people from different countries, under several aspects. INDIGO environment enables Vietnamese young people to live diversity and collect useful knowledge and skills which will assist them in the context of globalization. Moreover, INDIGO also provide a favorable environment for young people to meet, talk, share, and most important enhance their English skills. In some workshops such as : leadership , cheap travel , cohabitation , work and travel USA, we always try to find out the most practical problems that people sometimes face in real life to put in the problem solving section. For this reason , workshop not only brings the practical knowledge and experience to the young, but also workshop helps the students to discuss together to find the best solution for these problems. Additionally, for each topic, the suitable experienced guests also are invited to share their practical knowledge about the topic, give out the advices and recommendations, which is one of the most prominent feature of INDIGO workshop.
• Beside Workshop, each month INDIGO holds a fact-finding trip. Each fact-finding trip gives youngsters the chance to go sightseeing, discover beautiful sites and join in interesting games operated by INDIGO. Moreover, on the journey, participants have opportunities to make friends, interact with each other and international volunteers also. In addition, to foreigner volunteers, joining our fact-finding trip is the best chance to go sightseeing in order to discover the hidden charm of Hanoi. Accidentally, you will widen your knowledge about this ancient city as well as make friend with local students. Some of Fact-finding trip’s destinations were Hanoi Old quarters, Duong Lam Ancient village, Museum of Ethnology and many more beautiful places are waiting for you.
